Udaipur, April 8, 2025: On Tuesday, Nicholas Pooran showed his fierce form at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and batted in such a way that even the home fans of Kolkata Knight Riders were left stunned. It looked like Pooran would easily complete his century, but he missed it by just 13 runs.
Thanks to his explosive innings, Lucknow Super Giants posted a big total of 238 runs for the loss of three wickets. Pooran came to bat in the 11th over and showed his intent from the very first ball. He played an aggressive innings, scoring an unbeaten 87 runs off just 36 balls. His knock included seven fours and eight sixes.
Unfortunately, he did not get much strike in the last two overs, which is why he couldn’t complete his century.
Fifty in Just 21 Balls
Left-handed batsman Nicholas Pooran is known for his explosive batting, and he showed it again in this match. He attacked every Kolkata bowler and completed his half-century in just 21 balls. After that, he became even more aggressive. In the 18th over bowled by Andre Russell, Pooran smashed 24 runs with the help of two sixes and two fours. He didn’t spare Sunil Narine either and hit him hard.
Strong Partnerships
Pooran shared a 71-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh, where he scored 32 runs in just 16 balls. Later, he built another quick stand of 51 runs with Abdul Samad in only 18 balls. Out of that, Pooran himself scored 44 runs in just 14 balls. This clearly shows how brutally he punished the bowlers.
Marsh Was Equally Dangerous
Before Pooran's fireworks, it was Mitchell Marsh who had already put Kolkata under pressure. The right-handed batter gave Lucknow a strong start. However, he too missed out on a century. Marsh got out after scoring 81 runs off 48 balls. His innings included six fours and five sixes.
