July 23, 2025: Pakistan cricket seems determined to embarrass itself every day. Sometimes the Pakistan Cricket Board takes such decisions that create problems and make it a subject of jokes. And sometimes, the performance of the Pakistani team falls to a very poor level. This time, Pakistan has crossed all limits. Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by eight runs in the second T20 match played in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Winning and losing is a part of cricket, but the way Pakistan lost to Bangladesh is shameful. Bangladesh played the full 20 overs and got all out for just 133 runs. This target was not too difficult in a T20 match, but the Pakistan team could not even chase that. The entire team got all out for 125 runs in 19.2 overs. This is Bangladesh’s second straight win in the three-match series, and they have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Seven Pakistani Batsmen Failed to Reach Double Figures
The condition of Pakistan’s batting was very poor. Seven of their batsmen could not reach double digits. Three of them could not even open their account. It started with Saim Ayub, who got run out after scoring just one run. Then, Shoriful Islam dismissed Mohammad Haris for a duck. Islam also took the wicket of the second opener Fakhar Zaman, who scored only eight runs.
Tanjim Hasan Sakib dismissed both Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz without letting them score a single run. Captain Agha Salman was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for just nine runs, and Pakistan’s score became 30 for six. Khushdil Shah also went back to the pavilion soon after, scoring just 13 runs. Abbas Afridi and Faheem Ashraf tried to fight back with a 41-run partnership, but Shoriful Islam broke it by dismissing Afridi.
Faheem Ashraf Fought Hard But in Vain
Pakistan still had hope while Faheem Ashraf was at the crease. He batted brilliantly and hit a six on the fifth ball of the 19th over to keep Pakistan in the game. He completed his half-century but got bowled by Rishad Hossain on the very next ball. Ashraf scored 51 runs in 32 balls, with four fours and four sixes. In the last over, Pakistan needed 13 runs. Mustafizur Rahman bowled Ahmed Daniyal on the second ball and secured the win and the series for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh’s Struggles in Batting Too
Earlier, Bangladesh also had a poor start. On the third ball of the second over, Mohammad Naim was bowled by Faheem Ashraf. Bangladesh lost four wickets for just 28 runs. Then, Jaker Ali and Mehidy Hasan Miraz built a partnership and took the score to 81. Miraz scored 33 runs in 25 balls before getting out.
After that, Jaker Ali continued to bat well. He completed his half-century and got out on the last ball of the 20th over. He scored 55 runs in 48 balls, including one four and five sixes.
