May 28, 2025 - Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has finally found his rhythm. In the last league match of IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Pant completed his century in just 54 balls. The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 118 runs off 61 balls, hitting 11 fours and 8 sixes.

This tournament had been like a nightmare for Pant, but in the last match the LSG captain played the kind of innings that the Lucknow fans had been waiting for over the past 13 matches.

Thanks to Pant’s explosive century and Mitchell Marsh’s 67-run knock, Lucknow scored 227 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs against RCB. This is the second-highest total ever at the Ekana Stadium.

Century Celebration

Pant was going through the worst phase of his IPL career, but this century in the eighth and final league match in Lucknow showed why the left-handed batsman is still seen as a star player.

When Pant started hitting boundaries, the crowd’s energy was at its peak. Even fans of the opposing team may have felt a bit emotional, thinking, “Sir, you came too late.”

Lucknow Misses the Playoffs

LSG missed the top-four spot by just one match.

Before this match, Pant had scored only 151 runs in 12 innings from 13 matches, with an average of around 12. His strike rate was just 99.8. Due to Pant's poor form, Lucknow failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second year in a row.

However, just before the England tour, Pant played an unforgettable knock and regained the trust of the selectors. He reached his half-century in 29 balls with five fours and three sixes. To complete his second fifty, he needed just 24 more balls, again hitting five fours and three sixes.

Pant Celebrates

Pant became the first player from Lucknow to score a century in 54 balls. After reaching his hundred, he celebrated with a flip, which quickly went viral on social media.

Interestingly, this celebration was a copy of West Indies off-spinner Kevin Sinclair, who is known for his acrobatic flip celebrations after taking wickets. Pant has now joined that club with his stunning tribute.
