Match Summary

Host Rajasthan is struggling at 49/2 at the end of 2nd days play in the Ranji trophy match against Karnataka here at the Field Club cricket ground in Udaipur.

Earlier resuming from overnight score of 273-3, Karnataka soon lost Amit Verma and Ganesh when they were dismissed by seamer Pankaj Singh early in the day.

But this was Rajasthan’s last moment of joy in the day as Stuart Binny, son of former Test Player Roger Binny had some other plans in mind. He along with opener KB Pawan started attacking the Rajasthan bowlers and posted a huge 6th wicket partnership of more than 200 runs.

Binny scored his century after lunch and KB Pawan goes to his First Class double hundred while clobbering the Rajasthan bowlers. They played the shots on demands and the bowlers were just searching the way to dismiss the partnership.

The partnership came to an end when Binny was trying to attack seamer Sumit Mathur and was caught by Vaibhav Deshpandey before scoring a brisk 151 runs with the help of 23 boundaries and 3 mammoth sixes.

Pawan's Double Century gives Rajasthan a tough Fight

Karnataka declared their inning at 623 -6. KB Pawan remained unbeaten with 251 runs with 32 boundaries and 1 six and captain Vinay Kumar was not out on 34 runs. For Rajasthan seamer Pankaj Singh took 3 wickets while Sumit & Deepak Chahar took 2 and 1 wicket apiece.

Madhur Khatri the only spinner proved to be very costly in his spells and remained wicketless.

Rajasthan started their inning with opener Vineet Saxena and Vaibhav Deshpandey. Vaibhav was dismissed by Abhimanyu Mithun for no score and Rajasthan could not have asked for such a start.

Before close they got another setback when season champion and Captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar was dismissed by Karnataka captain Vinay Kumar.

Now Rajasthan’s hopes depend on the local duos Vineet Saxena and Ashok Menaria who are at the crease together on 20 runs and 7 runs respectively.

Being from Udaipur these two very well knows the ground conditions and Udaipurites are also willing to see their boys taking Rajasthan out of danger. Their first target would be to deny Rajasthan from taking Follow-on.

We are looking forward for the exciting 3rd days play.
