It shows Mahendra Singh Dhoni wearing gloves, probably getting ready for batting practice in the nets. At that moment, Dwayne Bravo was slowly walking towards Dhoni. Seeing him, Dhoni—who has returned as Chennai's captain—couldn’t resist playfully punching him.

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a fractured elbow. The franchise has brought back MS Dhoni as captain. Chennai faced Kolkata Knight Riders on April 11 under Dhoni’s leadership. Before the match, Dhoni met Dwayne Bravo during practice at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Bravo Joins Kolkata as Mentor

Bravo was Dhoni’s teammate in Chennai during two stints — from 2011 to 2015 and then from 2018 to 2022. He also worked as Chennai’s bowling coach in 2023 and 2024. However, ahead of this season, Bravo joined Kolkata Knight Riders as their mentor. Dhoni will now face his old friend as an opponent.

Bravo played a key role in Chennai’s title wins in 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2022 under Dhoni’s leadership. He is the second-highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket with 631 wickets in 582 matches. After Gautam Gambhir became India’s national team coach, Bravo replaced him as Kolkata's mentor.
