It was almost a century ago that Polo was played in Udaipur by Maharana Fateh Singh in 1890’s, a royal sport which evolved as Anglo-Indian relation building exercise in India under British crown-ship; now Udaipur Polo and Riding Club has taken initiative of re-introducing the game in Mewar.

To start with the project, Udaipur Polo and Riding Club (UPRC) will commence Horse Riding sessions from April 2013, in which the enrolled participants will be familiarised with horses and riding, under expert guidance of trainer.

Udaipur Polo and Riding Club is founded with combined efforts of seven founding members viz. Raghav Raj Singh, Digpal Singh Jhala, Hitesh Sharma, Dakshraj Jodha, Tejveer Jhala, Karan Vijay Singh, Veeram Dev Singh.

According to Raghav Raj Singh, Founder, UPRC, even if someone knows horse riding and is enthusiast about Polo can also join the club so as to enhance skills related to polo, idea behind is to develop low handicap Polo players from Udaipur.

In the initial stage, Club has introduced 3 months package for both Polo and Riding, to avail Riding Package one have to pay Rs. 15 thousand, while for Polo the charges would be around Rs. 25 thousand, registration for both is open with limited number of seats.

“Future prospects of Club include a plan to organise various competitions including Polo Cup”, added Raghav Raj Singh.
