Udaipur wins four medals at the 13th Rajasthan State Senior Men's and Women's Classic Powerlifting Championship; Gaurav Sahu and Neelam Dangi win gold
Udaipur, February 5, 2025 – Udaipur has won four medals in the 13th Rajasthan State Senior Men's and Women's Classic Powerlifting Championship held at Kanhaiya Resort in Bandikui, Dausa. The medal tally of the Udaipur team includes two gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
Vinod Sahu, secretary of the District Powerlifting Association Udaipur, said that in the 59 kg weight category, Udaipur's emerging player Gaurav Sahu won a gold medal by setting two new State records. Gaurav lifted a total of 480 kgs, with 172.5 kg in Squat, 87.5 kg in Bench Press, and 220 kg in Deadlift.
Gaurav broke the previous State record of 205 kg in Deadlift by lifting 220 kg, setting a new State record. Additionally, he surpassed the previous overall State record of 457.5 kg by lifting a total of 480 kg, establishing a new State record.
In the 84 kg weight category, Neelam Dangi won the gold medal by lifting a total of 412.5 kg. In the 69 kg weight category, Bhagyashree won the silver medal by lifting a total of 295 kg, while Payal Nalwarya won the bronze medal by lifting 275 kg in the same weight category.
The players were extended congratulatory messages by the president of the Rajasthan State Powerlifting Association Dinesh Shrimali, chairman of the District Association Kamlesh Sharma, coach Chandresh Soni, organising secretary of the Rajasthan State Powerlifting Association Vinod Sahu and secretary of the Rajasthan State Powerlifting Association Devendra Sahu.
