Pratika Rawal Set to Make Comeback in India Women’s ODI Squad vs Australia
Pratika Rawal is set to return to the Indian women’s cricket team for the ODI series against Australia after recovering from an injury sustained during the ICC ODI World Cup 2025. Her comeback will strengthen India’s top order and add depth to both batting and bowling.
Pratika Rawal had been sidelined after suffering an injury while fielding against Bangladesh during the World Cup. She had to leave the tournament early and was sent to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for treatment and rehabilitation. During her absence, Shafali Verma was brought into the team, performing well in the top order. Now fully fit, Rawal’s return is expected to strengthen India’s batting line-up and add depth to the squad. She has a good track record against Australia, making her comeback especially valuable for the team.
Pratika Rawal’s ODI Record and Influence on the Team
Pratika Rawal made her ODI debut against the West Indies on December 22, 2024. In just 24 matches, she has scored 1,110 runs at an impressive average of 50.45. She has two centuries and four half-centuries to her name, and her consistent strike rate adds momentum to India’s innings. Beyond her batting, Rawal can also contribute as a part-time bowler, having bowled in 12 innings and taken six wickets. This dual ability makes her a crucial asset for India in both batting and bowling departments.
Her return to the squad may influence team selection, as captain Harmanpreet Kaur may have to reconsider including Shafali Verma, who is currently in good form. Rawal’s presence provides additional flexibility and options for the team, especially in balancing the batting order and strengthening the top three.
The updated Indian women’s ODI squad for the Australia series is:
Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Renuka Thakur, Sree Charani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Kranti Gaud, Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (WK), Uma Chetry (WK), Kashvee Gautam, Amanjot Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, and Pratika Rawal.
