Udaipur, May 4, 2025: Prithvi Shaw was once considered the rising star of India. Many believed that he would become a top batsman for the Indian team and even lead it one day. But due to poor form and fitness, Prithvi fell behind. Things got so bad that no team placed a bid for him in IPL 2025.
However, another league has now come forward to support him by making him their icon player. In India, many states have started their own T20 leagues similar to the IPL. One such league is the Mumbai T20 League, run by the Mumbai Cricket Association. The third season of this league will begin after the current IPL season, and Prithvi Shaw has been chosen as the icon player of this league.
These players are also named
A total of eight players have been made icon players in the Mumbai T20 League. Along with Prithvi Shaw, the list includes Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, and Tushar Deshpande. The league has eight teams, and each team will choose one icon player. The Mumbai Cricket Association will soon announce the auction dates. This league is returning after six years. Its last season was played before the COVID pandemic, and now the third season will be held.
Many big names from Mumbai cricket will be seen in this league. Kolkata Knight Riders’ assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey will be working as coaches in the tournament.
All eyes on Prithvi Shaw
Most of the attention will be on Prithvi Shaw. He wants to make a comeback to Team India, and this league will give him a chance to prove that he still has the talent he showed in the early days of his career. The road to return to the Indian team is not easy for him. But the doors are not fully closed yet. He will need to perform very well in this league to open those doors again.
