PSL Shifted to UAE

Udaipur, May 9, 2025: The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been moved to the United Arab Emirates due to the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India. Eight matches are still left to be played this season. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that the new dates and venues for these matches will be announced soon.

Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi were supposed to play at the Rawalpindi Stadium yesterday. However, the match was postponed after an emergency meeting. The meeting was called because a drone attack damaged the stadium complex. During the meeting, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi spoke to the foreign players. The players said they preferred to shift the league to the UAE for safety reasons.

India-Pakistan Tension Grows, PSL Moved to UAE

Pakistan has claimed that the drones destroyed in different parts of the country were sent by India. India responded by saying the drone attacks were in retaliation for Pakistan's attacks on Indian military bases on Wednesday night. Earlier, India had launched missile strikes on Pakistan on Tuesday night, which it said were in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Indian-controlled Kashmir, in April.

Foreign Players Shifted, PCB Prepares New Schedule

According to ESPNcricinfo, foreign players taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have already flown to the United Arab Emirates. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it will take some time to finalize the venue and match dates in the UAE.

Original Matches Affected

As per the previous PSL schedule, 4 of the remaining 8 matches were to be played in Rawalpindi, 1 in Multan, and 3 in Lahore. Though the PCB had earlier mentioned a revised schedule, they had not announced that the entire tournament would move out of Pakistan.

UAE – PSL’s Backup Venue

This is the 10th season of the PSL. The UAE has hosted the tournament before. The first edition in 2016 was fully held there, and most matches in 2017 were also played in the UAE. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 edition was partially held there too.

International Schedule May Be Affected

If the remaining PSL matches are delayed, it could affect the Pakistan national team’s schedule. According to the original plan, the PSL final was set for May 18. Just three days later, Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20 series starting May 25 in Faisalabad. The PCB told ESPNcricinfo that no decision has been made yet about the Bangladesh series.
