PV Sindhu Wins Title After a Two-Year Drought

The Olympic medallist beat her China opponent in the Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament to take the Women’s Singles title; Lakshya Sen won the Men’s Singles final

 
Sindhu beats Marin in straight sets to clinch India Open title

December 2, 2024 - Two-time Olympic medallist Indian shuttler PV Sindhu yesterday clinched the Women's Singles title at the Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament thus ending a two-year title drought. She clinched the Women's Singles title at the Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament with an excellent performance. Sindhu defeated China's Wu Luoyu 21-14, 21-16 in the final.

This is Sindhu's first Women's Singles title since July 2022, her last title win being at the Singapore Open in July 2022. The player’s post on social media read: “2 years, 4 months, and 18 days”.

Meanwhile, in the Men's Singles final, Lakshya Sen clinched the Singles titles. Sen, a 2021 World Championships bronze medallist, was at his dominant best as he overcame Singapore's Jia Heng Jason Teh 21-6, 21-7 in the title clash, exhibiting complete command over the match.  

Also, the women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand took their maiden Super 300 title with a convincing 21-18, 21-11 win over China's Bao Li Jing and Li Qian.
