June 7, 2025 - The Indian team made a strong start in England. India A performed well against the England Lions and scored 319 runs for 7 wickets by the end of the first day's play. The star of the day was KL Rahul, who began the England tour with a brilliant century. He scored 116 runs off 168 balls, hitting 15 fours and one six.
Rahul has strengthened his preparations by scoring a century before the five-match Test series against England, which starts on June 20.
KL Rahul helped the team recover from a poor start by sharing an 87-run partnership for the third wicket with Karun Nair (40), and a 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel (52).
Rahul Impresses
On the first day, England's fast bowler Chris Woakes took three wickets, George Hill took two, and Farhan Ahmed got one Indian batsman out. Rahul, who has already scored two centuries in England, is now the most senior member of the Indian Test team. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have retired from Test cricket.
Rahul began his innings with a defensive approach and completed his half-century in 102 balls. After that, he increased the tempo and reached his century in the next 49 balls. Rahul has played 58 Test matches so far and scored runs at an average of 33.57. Most of his success has come as a top-order batsman.
Complaint Against Kohli
Meanwhile, in an unrelated news break, a police complaint has been filed against star cricketer Virat Kohli after 11 people died in a stampede during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s celebration outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4. RCB had organised a grand event after winning their first IPL trophy in 17 years.
The complaint, as per reports, was filed by AM Venkatesh, a representative of Naija Hortagarara Vedike, at Cubbon Park Police Station on June 6. Police have registered the complaint and said it will be investigated along with the FIR already filed.
