The State won medals in all categories at the 3rd National Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior Lacrosse Championship for Men and Women in Agra
Udaipur, May 3, 2025 – Rajasthan’s lacrosse team asserted its dominance at the 3rd National Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior Lacrosse Championship for Men and Women, by winning medals in all categories. The tournament was jointly hosted by the Lacrosse Federation of India and Uttar Pradesh Lacrosse Association in Agra from April 29 to May 1. Around 800 players from 26 States took part.
According to Rajasthan Lacrosse Association president Ashok Parnami, the players, trained by coach Neeraj Batra, demonstrated exceptional coordination, aggressive gameplay, accurate goal-scoring and strong defence.
The Senior Women's team defeated Chhattisgarh 17-0 in the quarter finals, Andhra Pradesh 16-0 in the semi finals and Haryana 7-1 in the final to win the title in a one-sided affair.
In the Senior Men's category, Rajasthan outplayed Telangana 19-0 in the pre-quarter finals, Karnataka 11-0 in the quarter finals, Haryana 5-2 in the semi finals and clinched the title by defeating Gujarat in a hard-fought final via a golden goal.
The Junior Girls defeated Telangana in the quarter finals, Maharashtra in the semi finals, and Haryana in the final to become champions. The Sub-Junior Boys triumphed over Telangana in the quarters, Andhra Pradesh in the semis and Chhattisgarh in the final. The Sub-Junior Girls also lifted the title after victories over Telangana (QF), Chhattisgarh (SF) and Haryana (Final). Meanwhile, the Junior Boys secured the bronze medal.
Team captains were Mohanlal Gameti (Senior Men), Sunita Meena (Senior Women), Pranay Tripathi (Junior Boys), Dali Gameti (Junior Girls), Nishant Nagda (Sub-Junior Boys) and Roshni Bose (Sub-Junior Girls).
Top scorers included Mohanlal Gameti, Jhula Kumari Gurjar (Senior Women), Dali Gameti and Yashoda Gameti (Junior Girls), Nishant Nagda and Roshni Bose – all from Rajasthan.
Rajasthan’s contingent featured several players who play on the international circuit such as India’s first Women’s lacrosse team captain Sunita Meena, Jhula Kumari Gurjar, Dali Gameti, Hemlata Dangi, Vishakha Meghwal, Meera Dauja, Mohanlal Gameti, Khumaram Gameti and Pranay Tripathi.
Rajasthan’s outstanding performance was lauded by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Sports KK Vishnoi, Tribal Development Minister Babu Lal Kharadi, Udaipur MP Dr Manna Lal Rawat, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, Gogunda MLA Pratap Lal Gameti, Udaipur Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta and Udaipur Development Authority Commissioner Rahul Jain.
