The Senior Women’s host team defeated Haryana 16-3 while in the Senior Men’s category, Rajasthan beat Odisha 14-3 to clinch the finals; Rajasthan is runners-up in Sub-Junior final games
Udaipur, February 11, 2025 - Rajasthan has won both the Senior Men and Women titles in the Second National Sub-Junior and Senior Lacrosse Championship, organised by the Lacrosse Federation of India and the Rajasthan Lacrosse Association. The games were played at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon in Udaipur. Additionally, the Rajasthan Sub-Junior Boys and Girls teams finished as runners-up.
Comprising players from the tribal areas of Udaipur and trained by coach Neeraj Batra, the Rajasthan teams showcased exceptional skills in their matches.
Batra informed that in the Senior Women’s category, Rajasthan beat Haryana 16-3 in the final to claim the title. Captain Sunita Meena, Jula Kumari Gurjar, Vishakha Meghwal, Meera Daujha, Daali Gameti, Hemlata Dangi, Seema Teli and goalkeeper Mukan Gurjar were outstanding.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Rajasthan defeated Gujarat and Haryana overcame Andhra Pradesh. Sunita and Jula of Rajasthan both scored 17 goals each, sharing the title of the best scorer.
In the Senior Men’s category, Rajasthan defeated Odisha 14-3 in the final to become the national champions. Captain Mohanlal Gameti, Khuma Ram Gameti, Daya Shankar Gameti, Pranay Tripathi, Rajesh Gameti and Narayan Gameti played remarkably well.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Rajasthan defeated Andhra Pradesh and Odisha beat Haryana to reach the finals.
While Rajasthan dominated the Senior categories, both Sub-Junior titles were won by Haryana. The Girls Sub-Junior final was extremely competitive, where host Rajasthan fought hard but lost 5-4 to Haryana after conceding a goal in the final seconds and becoming the runners-up. In the Sub-Junior Girls category, Rajasthan’s Yashoda Gameti was the best scorer.
Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena. Other guests present were Imran Ahmed Lari, Dr Gangadharayya, Atar Alam Khan, Aniket Patel and Aslam Warsi from the Lacrosse Federation of India. Rajasthan Lacrosse Association was represented by Sajjad Khan, Mahendra Singh and Nathuram Jat.
Congratulatory messages have poured in for the Rajasthan team members from eminent personalities including Tribal Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Udaipur Lok Sabha MP Dr Mannalal Rawat, Gogunda MLA Prataplal Gameti, Salumber MLA Shantadevi Meena, Vallabhnagar MLA Udaylal Dangi, former Cabinet Minister Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Udaipur Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani and many others.
