Rajasthan Scripts History, Wins Gold in National School Hockey

Udaipur, Jan 17, 2026 - Rajasthan has created history by winning its first-ever gold medal at the 69th National School Hockey Championship (Under-19 Boys). Rajasthan defeated Odisha 3-2 in a nail-biting final. The tournament was jointly organised by SGFI and PM Shri Fateh School in Udaipur.

Odisha won the silver finishing as first runner-up while Punjab secured the bronze as second runner-up defeating Himachal Pradesh 6-0.

This is Rajasthan's first-ever gold medal in the tournament. Hockey enthusiasts in Udaipur have lauded this historic victory.

First Quarter: The match started cautiously with both teams failing to score.

Second Quarter: Rajasthan converted a penalty corner into a goal and later scored again. At half-time, the team was leading 2-0.

Third Quarter: Rajasthan added a third goal. Odisha was awarded multiple penalty corners but failed to convert them into goals owing to Rajasthan's excellent goalkeeping. Eventually, Odisha converted a penalty corner to make it 3-1, adding excitement to the game.

Fourth Quarter: Odisha scored again from another penalty corner, bringing the score to 3-2. However, despite chances for both sides, Rajasthan held on firm and defended its 3-2 to clinch the match and the gold medal thereby making history.

After the final whistle, hundreds of spectators rushed onto the field and hoisted the players, coach Digvijay Singh Ranawat, manager Balwant Choudhary and other officials onto their shoulders in celebration.
