Gujarat Triumphs Despite Rashid’s Struggles, Bowlers Shine in Key Win

Udaipur, May 3, 2025: It’s hard to name just one most important cricketer for Gujarat Titans. But one of their key players is definitely Rashid Khan. However, Rashid is not in good form in this year’s IPL.

He was also heavily beaten in today’s match where Sunrisers Hyderabad lost by 38 runs in Ahmedabad. Gujarat, who batted first after losing the toss, scored 224 runs. In reply, Hyderabad was restricted to 186. Rashid gave away 50 runs in just 3 overs — his worst economy rate in any IPL match where he bowled at least one over. So far this season, Rashid has taken only 7 wickets in 10 matches and has given more than 9 runs per over on average.

Rashid Struggles, But Gujarat Bowlers Shine

Although Rashid Khan was not in good form, the other Gujarat bowlers performed well. Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets for just 19 runs in 4 overs. Mohammad Siraj also bowled well, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs.

Hyderabad’s Strong Start Fades

Despite a strong start, Hyderabad’s top order couldn’t finish the job. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma started with attacking shots, but couldn’t stay long. Abhishek scored 74 runs off 41 balls. Heinrich Klaasen failed to make an impact, scoring only 23 runs off 18 balls.

Gujarat’s Batting Started Well, Slowed Down Later

Gujarat started strong after losing the toss and batting first. Opener Sai Sudarshan scored 48 off 23 balls. By the time he got out, Gujarat had 87 runs in 6.5 overs. Shubman Gill added a solid 76 off 38 balls.

But after Gill’s run out, the scoring slowed. Gujarat had 149 runs in 13 overs, and scored only 75 runs in the last 7 overs — a bit low considering the fast start. Jos Buttler helped finish well with an unbeaten 64 off 37 balls.

Gujarat Closer to Playoffs, Hyderabad Almost Out

This was Gujarat’s seventh win in 10 matches, moving them closer to the playoffs. For Hyderabad, this was their seventh loss — almost ending their hopes for this season.
