April 28, 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a commanding all-round display to defeat the Delhi Capitals by nine wickets in a one-sided IPL 2026 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, RCB delivered a ruthless bowling performance, bundling Delhi out for just 75 runs in 16.3 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood led the demolition job with the new ball, sharing seven wickets between them. Bhuvneshwar struck early, removing debutant Sahil Parakh with a superb swinging delivery on just the second ball of the innings. Hazlewood followed immediately, dismissing KL Rahul, with Jitesh Sharma taking a clean catch behind the stumps.

The pressure never eased as DC’s batting collapsed completely under sustained pace and movement. Hazlewood accounted for Sameer Rizvi caught behind, while Bhuvneshwar removed Tristan Stubbs, who edged one to the slips, and later trapped Axar Patel as the innings continued to unravel. At one stage, Delhi were left reeling at 8/6, with both pacers in complete control.

DC Collapse as RCB Bowlers Run Riot

Delhi Capitals never recovered from their disastrous start. Reduced to 13/6 after the powerplay, their batting lineup showed no resistance against the relentless RCB attack. Only Abhishek Porel, introduced as an impact substitute, offered any fight, emerging as the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal batting effort.

Porel top-scored with a composed 30 off 33 balls and attempted to rebuild the innings with lower-order partnerships. He added 35 runs with David Miller for the seventh wicket, 19 with Kyle Jamieson for the eighth, and a further 9 with Kuldeep Yadav for the ninth. However, his resistance ended when Hazlewood returned to clean him up, wrapping up the innings.

RCB Cruise in Chase with Clinical Batting Display

Chasing a modest target of 76, RCB began aggressively. Jacob Bethell, replacing the injured Phil Salt, scored a quick 20 off 11 balls, including two sixes, before being dismissed by a stunning catch from T Natarajan in the deep.

Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli then took complete control of the chase. Padikkal struck a blistering 34 off just 13 balls, while Kohli played a composed yet authoritative knock of 23 off 15 deliveries, including two sixes. Kohli also reached a historic milestone during the innings, becoming the first player in IPL history to surpass 9000 runs.

RCB completed the chase comfortably, sealing a dominant nine-wicket victory and reinforcing their strong form in IPL 2026 with one of their most clinical performances of the season.
