March 24, 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have confirmed that fast bowler Yash Dayal will not play in the upcoming IPL 2026 season, even though he is still under contract with the team. Dayal’s absence comes as the defending champions get ready to start their campaign on March 28.

The pacer is unable to participate due to an ongoing legal case. Official statements have not shared full details, but the situation has affected his ability to play competitive cricket. RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, said, “He’s going through a personal situation. He remains under contract.” This shows that Dayal is still part of the team, but will not play until the matter is resolved.

Dayal has not joined pre-season training or team activities, and RCB appear to be moving forward without him on the field. The franchise is keeping him under contract but choosing not to field him until his legal issues are cleared.

About Yash Dayal’s Legal Case

Yash Dayal has been booked in two separate criminal cases involving serious allegations of sexual exploitation. The first case, filed in July 2025 at the Indirapuram Police Station in Ghaziabad, involves a woman accusing him of physical and mental exploitation under the false pretext of marriage during a five-year relationship.

The second case was filed in Jaipur under the POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. It involves a teenager alleging sexual assault by Dayal multiple times since 2023, including an incident during the 2025 IPL season at a hotel where he allegedly promised to help her career.

The Allahabad High Court granted a stay on his arrest in the Ghaziabad case, but a POCSO court in Jaipur rejected his anticipatory bail in December 2025, citing the seriousness of the evidence and ongoing investigation.

RCB will strengthen their fast-bowling lineup through other players for IPL 2026, leaving Dayal’s situation to be reviewed once there is clarity and legal clearance.
