RCB May See New Owner: Kannada Producer of 'KGF' and 'Kantara' in Talks
Ownership of Virat Kohli’s franchise is reportedly moving to the well-known Kannada production company, Hombale Films.
Udaipur, Nov 19, 2025 - RCB is set for a change in ownership. According to sources, the process of selling the team has already begun. The ownership of Virat Kohli’s franchise is reportedly moving to the well-known Kannada production company, Hombale Films.
Hombale Films primarily operates in the film industry and has no prior history of investing in sports. However, the production house has been extremely successful, producing blockbuster films such as KGF, Kantara and Salar.
The company, which has assets worth around Rs 3,000 crores, is already associated with RCB, managing the franchise’s marketing and promotion since 2023. However, the owners, Vijay Kingadur and Chaluve Gowda, will not acquire full ownership of the team. They are expected to become partial owners of RCB.
After a long wait of 18 years, RCB finally tasted the glory of its first IPL trophy. Last year, RCB’s women’s team became champions in the Women’s Premier League.
Following this year’s IPL final, rumours began that the ownership of RCB is changing. The current owners want to sell both the Men’s and Women’s teams. According to Diego India, 8.3 percent of the company’s profit comes from these two teams. In other words, RCB is no longer essential to them, which is why they are looking to sell it.
RCB has been priced at USD 200 million, which is around Rs 17,000 crores. Although several companies have shown interest, the franchise is set to be partially sold to the production house.
