April 16, 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing a target of 147, RCB completed the task comfortably in just 15.1 overs despite slightly challenging batting conditions.

Although the surface was expected to favour batters, it played slower than usual. However, Virat Kohli (49) and skipper Rajat Patidar (27) adapted well, laying a solid platform for the chase. After an early setback with Phil Salt’s dismissal, Kohli anchored the innings with fluency, building a crucial 57-run stand with Devdutt Padikkal before falling just short of a half-century to Avesh Khan.

RCB bowlers set up dominant win

RCB’s bowling unit played a decisive role earlier in the match, with Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Dar delivering a disciplined performance. Hazlewood struck early, including the key wicket of Nicholas Pooran, while Bhuvneshwar controlled the middle overs and Rasikh’s four-wicket haul dismantled the lower order, restricting LSG to 146.

For LSG, Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 40, while Ayush Badoni (38) and Mukul Choudhary (39) provided late resistance. However, frequent wickets and a brief, injury-affected innings from Rishabh Pant limited their recovery.

In response, contributions from Jitesh Sharma, along with finishing touches from the middle order, ensured RCB crossed the line with ease. The victory highlights their strong all-round form and further strengthens their position in the IPL 2026 standings.

Brief Scores: RCB 149/5 (Kohli 49; Prince Yadav 3/32) beat LSG 146 (Marsh 40; Rasikh Salam 4/24, Bhuvneshwar 3/27) by five wickets.
