After Canoeing and Kayaking, another add-on to adventure sports in Udaipur is Rock Climbing that is soon going to be started at MB College.

The formal inauguration which was scheduled today has been postponed due to some reasons, however the wall is all ready for the sporting action.

Rock climbing, also known as Top Play Climbing will be taught by Dinesh Sharma who is main coach for the sport. Sharma said that there are many types of rock climbing which can be learned on the wall.

Dinesh Sharma added that only three types will be introduced for now, namely Top Play, Lead Climbing and Speed Climbing. Sharma also mentioned that the focus is enhancing climbing skills of students.

“The aim is to provide and develop a professional stage for Rock Climbing as a sport”, added Dinesh Sharma, coach of rock climbing.

He also said that students need to be physically fit and have knowledge of initial trekking to take Rock Climbing seriously.

“The 10 meter wall is equipped with auto belly system for the safety of ramblers. The wall has enough space for 4 persons to climb at the same time”, said D. S. Chauhan, Secretary, University Sports Board.

The rock climbing wall inauguration was postponed due to technical aspects, Chauhan said, “we need to further inspect the durability and several other things before opening the facility”.

Formal inauguration will take place soon in coming days.
