Nov 06, 2025: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gave an incredible performance in the last ODI against Australia. Still, their future looks uncertain! The two stars are not in the team for the 3-match series that the Indian A team will play against South Africa A.

It was said that the board might keep them in the team for regular match practice, but the selectors did not do that.

There was talk in the Indian cricket community that both players might retire after the Australia tour. But no one announced their retirement to stop the rumours. On the contrary, Rohit showed with his excellent performance against Australia that his hunger for the game is still strong. Virat also played well in the last match.

The Indian team will play the ODI series against South Africa on November 30, December 3, and December 6. 'Ro-KO' will play all three of these matches. Before this, the Indian A team will play 3 warm-up matches against the South Africa A team.

It was said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could play in this series to get match practice. Like many cricket experts say, Rohit will need regular practice to play well in the 2027 World Cup. That is why he may have to play in the domestic ODI series and for the A team. But the national selectors did not include the two stars in the team against South Africa. Why this decision was made is not clear. It is also not clear whether the two players were contacted to play in this match.

Tilak Verma will lead the Indian A team. Ishan Kishan has returned to the team after a long time.

Now the question is, why were the two stars not included? Is it out of respect, or is it a hint that they may not be in the Indian team’s future plans?

India A squad against South Africa:

Tilak Verma (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Vipraj Nigam, Manav Sutar, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Khalil Ahmed, Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper).
