In an attempt to further encourage tourism and sport in Rajasthan, Royon Samajik Sansthaan has organized the Haldighati ‘Run-To_Breath’ Half Marathon on 9th October this year.
Speaking to the Press, Dr. Amid Murad, Director at Royon, said that approximately 5,000 runners are expected to participate in the event, which is being jointly sponsored by Celebration Mall, Udaipur and Vedan India. He further said that the purpose of the Marathon is to encourage tourism in Haldi Ghati and further the cause of sports by encouraging young athlete to emerge from the shadows. He added that history proves that the best sports persons of India have emerged from smaller towns and villages and have represented India at Internatinal level.
The event was earlier proposed to be held on 25th September but due to administration issues, has now been postponed to 9th October.
Run-To-Breath will have three categories of Marathon – 2.5km, 5km, 10km and 21km. Participants from Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat among other states are expected to join the Marathon.
Dr Murad announced that those school children, who take the first three positions, will be awarded scholarships fro two consecutive years.
Marathon will begin from Chetaka Samadhi and route through Shahi Baug and Khamnaur before culminating at Chetak Samadhi.
Dr Murad also announced that this event will be held every year.
Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Upendra Kushwaha will be the Chief Mentor of the event.
