Sachin Tendulkar Reacts to Zimbabwe’s Win Over Australia in T20 World Cup 2026

February 14, 2026: Sachin Tendulkar praised the Zimbabwe team after they beat former champions Australia in the T20 World Cup match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, February 13.
The former India captain said Zimbabwe showed real character. He also praised Blessing Muzarabani for his excellent bowling, which earned him the Player of the Match award. Muzarabani took two wickets in the powerplay and two more later, finishing with 4/17 in four overs. Tendulkar said he was excited about how the tournament is going.
"A great win from Zimbabwe! Beating Australia by 23 runs takes real character. And Blessing was truly a blessing with his 4-wicket spell. What an exciting tournament this is!" Tendulkar wrote on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Zimbabwe Shine with Batting Resolve
Earlier, Australia won the toss and chose to field first. Zimbabwe’s openers batted carefully but also attacked when needed, putting on a 61-run stand in eight overs. Brian Bennett anchored the innings with an unbeaten 64 off 56 balls, while Tadiwanashe Marumani and Ryan Burl gave useful support. Sikandar Raza’s 25 not out off 13 balls at the end helped Zimbabwe finish strongly.

Injury-Hit Zimbabwe Upset Australia
Chasing 170 on a slow pitch, Australia lost four wickets in the first five overs. Glenn Maxwell and Matt Renshaw tried to rebuild with a 77-run partnership off 59 balls. Maxwell fell for 31 off 32 balls, leaving Renshaw to fight alone. He scored 65 but was dismissed in the second-last over. Australia were bowled out for 146, giving Zimbabwe a 23-run win.
