Sahibzada Farhan Sends Strong Message Before ‘Normal’ India-Pakistan Clash
When asked if the India-Pakistan match could be one-sided, Farhan said they expect a good contest. He added that he is feeling confident after scoring runs in the last two matches. According to him, the team will not treat it as a special pressure game but as a normal match.
February 11, 2026: Sahibzada Farhan’s attacking knock helped Pakistan continue their winning run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan defeated the USA by 32 runs at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Tuesday.
Pakistan will now face India on February 15 in their next group-stage match. After the win, Farhan said the team is ready to play with a “different mindset” this time.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Farhan said the team feels confident after winning two matches and going to the top of the table. He added that the India game is not a big pressure match for them because they have played against India before and will treat it like a normal match.
Farhan scored 73 runs from 41 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes. His innings helped Pakistan post a strong total of 190/9. Shadab Khan also played an important all-round role in the victory.
Farhan said scoring 190 on that pitch was a big achievement. He explained that in the last few months, the team has worked hard to consistently score between 190 and 200 runs. He also praised teamwork and said he advised Saim Ayub to make good use of the powerplay fielding restrictions.
Pakistan Dominates USA with Strong All-Round Show
After being sent in to bat, Pakistan got off to a fast start. Saim Ayub and Farhan took the score past 50 in the fifth over. However, Shadley van Schalkwyk brought the USA back into the game by removing Ayub and captain Salman Agha. Pakistan were 56/2 at the end of the powerplay.
Farhan then built an 81-run partnership with Babar Azam. They rotated strike well and kept the scoreboard moving. Babar scored 46 before getting out, while Farhan completed his first T20 World Cup half-century. Shadab Khan added quick runs, scoring 30 off just 12 balls. Despite losing five wickets in the final overs, Pakistan finished at 190/9.
Chasing 191, the USA started well and scored 42 runs in the powerplay. Mohammad Nawaz broke the opening stand. Shadab then took two key wickets, including USA captain Monank Patel off his own bowling. Usman Tariq picked up three wickets, including two in back-to-back deliveries, which ended the USA’s hopes.
Shubham Ranjane scored 51 and Shayan Jahangir made 49, but Pakistan’s bowlers controlled the game and secured a 32-run win.
When asked if the India-Pakistan match could be one-sided, Farhan said they expect a good contest. He added that he is feeling confident after scoring runs in the last two matches. According to him, the team will not treat it as a special pressure game but as a normal match.
With this win, Pakistan sit at the top of Group A with four points from two matches. They will now face India in a high-voltage clash on Sunday.
