Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs starred as the Delhi Capitals overcame early losses to defeat the Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets in IPL 2026.
April 02, 2026: Delhi Capitals (DC) produced a brilliant comeback to beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets in Match 5 of IPL 2026 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 142, DC recovered from a shaky start thanks to Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs.
LSG batted first but struggled to build momentum. They were bowled out for 141 in 18.4 overs. Mitchell Marsh led the scoring with 35 off 28 balls, hitting two boundaries and three sixes. Skipper Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram failed to convert starts. A late push from Abdul Samad (36 off 25) helped LSG cross 140.
Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan took three wickets each, while Kuldeep Yadav took two and Axar Patel claimed one.
Shami Strikes Early, DC Collapse
The chase began poorly for DC. Mohammed Shami dismissed KL Rahul for a golden duck on the first ball. DC lost more wickets quicklyâPathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, and captain Axar Patel fell cheaply. At one point, DC was 26/4 in 4.3 overs. Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan supported Shami well in the powerplay.

Rizvi and Stubbs Rescue DC
Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs rebuilt the innings with a calm and smart partnership. Rizvi scored 70 off 47 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes, while Stubbs made 39 off 32 balls. Their 50+ run stand brought stability, controlled the run rate, and eventually helped DC chase the target comfortably, finishing 145/4 in 17.1 overs.
LSGâs early bowling gave hope, but they couldnât break the Rizvi-Stubbs partnership, which ultimately decided the game.
