Aug 7, 2025 - Star cricketer Sanju Samson will not leave Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the upcoming 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). For the past few days, there were many reports on social media claiming he might leave the team. Some reports even said that five-time champions Chennai Super Kings were planning to include Samson in their team along with MS Dhoni.

Another report claimed that Samson might join Kolkata Knight Riders and become their captain for the next season.

However, according to the latest updates, Samson is not going anywhere and will continue as captain of RR, the team that won the IPL in 2008. A source confirmed that Samson is still a part of the franchise.

Samson has been with RR since 2013 and was made captain in 2021. He has scored more than 4,000 runs in the IPL for his team, including three centuries. His highest score for the team is 119 runs off 63 balls against Punjab Kings.

Samson remains the heart of RR. He is a talented batsman and a smart captain. In the last season, the cricketer struggled with injuries because of which he could play only nine matches. He scored 285 runs at a strike rate of 140.39. In his absence, all-rounder Riyan Parag led the team.

This season, RR won only four out of 14 matches and lost 10. As a result, the team finished ninth in the points table.
