Shivam Dube travels by train to Mumbai after India’s T20 World Cup victory
Shivam Dube travelled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai by third-AC train after India’s ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 win as flights were unavailable. He wanted to reach home quickly to meet his children.
March 11, 2026: India’s victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 created many memorable moments on the field. However, an unusual off-field story involving Shivam Dube also caught the attention of fans. The Indian all-rounder reportedly travelled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a third-AC train coach after the final because flights were not available.
According to reports, after India’s strong win over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Dube decided to go home by train. Since there were no flights to Mumbai early in the morning, he chose the train as the fastest way to travel.
Dube boarded an early-morning train with his wife and a friend. They booked seats in a third-AC coach. The cricketer wanted to return home quickly to meet his children — his four-year-old son Ayaan and two-year-old daughter Mehwish.

Shivam Dube Tried to Avoid Being Recognised During Train Journey
To avoid being recognised by fans, the 32-year-old tried to hide his identity. He wore a full-sleeve T-shirt, a cap, and a mask. He waited inside a car until a few minutes before the train arrived. Then he quickly went to the platform, boarded the train, and climbed to the top berth.
Talking about the journey, Dube said he hoped there would not be many people at the station because the train was at 5:10 am. He said he only got down from the berth during the night to go to the washroom, and no one recognised him.
The trip lasted about eight hours. Dube was mostly worried about being recognised when the train reached Mumbai during the daytime. After reaching the station, he was given help by the police so that he could leave safely without attracting too much attention.
Dube later said the main reason for his quick return was his family. He wanted to reach home as soon as possible to spend time with his children after the tournament.
India had earlier won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final by defeating the New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs. While the victory led to celebrations across the country, Dube’s simple train journey showed his desire to return home to his family after the historic win.
