January 17, 2026: A dominant bowling display helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women secure a strong win over Gujarat Giants in Game 9 of the WPL 2026. The match was played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on January 16.

Batting first, RCB posted a solid total of 182 runs. Their bowlers then kept Gujarat Giants under pressure and restricted them to 150 runs, sealing a comfortable 32-run victory. Shreyanka Patil was the standout performer of the match. She bowled 3.5 overs, gave away only 23 runs, and took five wickets with an impressive spell.

This performance helped Shreyanka Patil enter the record books. At 23 years and 169 days old, she became the youngest player in WPL history to claim a five-wicket haul.

Shreyanka Patil Shares Her Thoughts After Match-Winning Performance

After the match, Shreyanka Patil spoke about her performance and the team’s effort. Her five-wicket haul played a key role in RCB’s impressive win against the in-form Gujarat Giants.

“First of all, I would like to give credit to Radha because without her innings, I don’t think we would have reached that total. I’m really happy with the way Richa and Radha batted in the first innings. We were 40 for 4, and the way they played from that situation was huge. It gave us a lot of confidence to see a score of around 170–180 on the board,” Patil said during the post-match presentation.

She also spoke about the dew factor and the bowlers’ effort. “It gave us a lot of confidence knowing that dew was going to play a big role. In the last few games on this wicket, we didn’t see much dew, but today we were prepared for it. I think the bowlers did really well, and I’m very happy to get my first five-wicket haul in the WPL,” she added.
