Sinner Stuns Djokovic, Sets Up Wimbledon Final Clash with Alcaraz
July 12, 2025 - World number one Yannick Sinner reached the final by defeating Novak Djokovic in the semi-final match. In the match played on Friday July 11, the 23-year-old beat Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. Now, he will face defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the title match.
Earlier, defending champion Alcaraz entered the final by defeating Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (6).
Sinner has reached the Wimbledon final for the first time after his win on Centre Court. Alcaraz, who is 22 years old, is just one win away from his third straight Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam title overall.
Second seed Alcaraz has reached the final with a winning streak of 24 matches in a row. He defeated Djokovic in the Wimbledon finals of 2023 and 2024. Alcaraz has a 5-0 record in Grand Slam finals, including a five-set comeback win over Sinner in the French Open just a month ago.
Fifth seed Fritz was hoping to become the first American player to reach the Wimbledon final since Andy Roddick in 2009, when Roddick lost to Roger Federer. Fritz was also the runner-up at the US Open last year, where he lost to Sinner.
