Smriti Mandhana Surpasses Her Own Record for Most Runs in a Calendar Year
She is currently the highest run-scorer in a calendar year in women’s international cricket, ahead of South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt
Udaipur, Dec 29, 2025: Smriti Mandhana was in great form for Team India on Sunday (December 28) against Sri Lanka. In the fourth T20I of the five-match series, the left-handed batter from Sangli opened the innings for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. She scored 80 runs from 48 balls.
During her innings, the 29-year-old hit 11 fours and 3 sixes. She also shared a 162-run partnership in 92 balls for the first wicket with Shafali Verma, who scored 79 runs from 46 balls, hitting 12 fours and 1 six.
Smriti’s 80-run knock on Sunday earned her the Player of the Match award. It also made history, as she became the first player in the world to score more than 1,700 runs in a calendar year in women’s cricket. She had already held the previous record, scoring 1,659 runs in 35 matches last year. In 2025, she has scored 1,703 runs in 32 matches so far.
Smriti Mandhana Breaks Her Own Record
Will Smriti Mandhana surpass her current record for most runs in a calendar year next season? In 2025, Mandhana scored 1,362 runs in 23 ODIs and 341 runs in nine T20I matches. She is the only cricketer in the world to score more than 1,000 runs in women’s ODIs in a calendar year.

In addition to breaking her own record for most runs in a calendar year, Mandhana also surpassed Harmanpreet Kaur’s record for hitting the most sixes for India in T20Is.
