February 11. 2026: South Africa pulled off a thrilling win over Afghanistan in a high-scoring match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the Rashid Khan-led side did not give up without a fight. Chasing 188, Afghanistan looked in control for most of the innings, especially with Rahmanullah Gurbaz scoring a quick 84 off 42 balls. However, his dismissal caused a collapse, and the chase became very tight.

When the game seemed to be slipping away, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad played important late cameos to bring Afghanistan back into the match and take the contest into a Super Over. The innings ended with two balls left, showing how close the chase was.

In the Super Over, Afghanistan sent Azmatullah Omarzai and Gurbaz to bat. Omarzai started strongly, hitting a boundary on the first ball and then a six. Lungi Ngidi struggled to control them as Afghanistan scored 17 runs in the Super Over, putting South Africa under pressure.

Second Super Over Drama Seals South Africa’s Thrilling Win

When South Africa came out to chase in the first Super Over, David Miller and Dewald Brevis opened the batting. Brevis hit a huge six to keep the Proteas in the game. However, Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed him on the very next ball. Tristan Stubbs then hit a boundary, and the equation came down to seven runs from two balls. He played a dot on the fifth ball but smashed a six on the final ball to tie the score and force a second Super Over.
