Major Boost for Sports Under New Policy: CM

Sports budget to double in phased manner; launch of Mission Olympics and initiatives under the One District One Sport scheme will provide opportunities for world-class training to athletes

Udaipur, January 15, 2025 - Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced the introduction of a new policy in the State which will include aspects such as scientific analysis, consultation and nutrition at every level to promote sports. He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 37th Dangi-Patel Samaaj Sports Competition, organised by the Dangi Seva Sansthan Sports Association, Udaipur, at the Kanpur Kheda sports ground in the city yesterday, January 14.

He shared that the budget allocation for sports, which was increased in the previous budget, will be doubled in a phased manner. Players will be provided training and encouragement at various levels, said the CM.

CM Sharma also announced the launch of Mission Olympics initiative under which 50 talented athletes from the State will receive world-class training, kits, coaching and all necessary facilities to prepare for the Olympics. Facilities will be provided to sportspersons in accordance with the Centre’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme.

The CM further informed that under the One District One Sport scheme, academies for popular sports are being established in each district. In Jaipur, a rehabilitation programme for athletes is being implemented at Rs15 crore and that construction of open gyms and sports grounds at the Gram Panchayat level is being prioritised.

A proposal to host the Khelo India National Youth Games in Rajasthan in 2026 has been put forward to the Centre. Khelo Rajasthan Youth Games are being organised at the block, district and state levels on the lines of Khelo India Youth Games, he added.

The State has urged the Central Government to establish National Excellence Centres and Khelo India State Centres of Excellence in Rajasthan to nurture talents, the CM informed.
