Sunrisers Hyderabad Stun Mumbai Indians in Wankhede Run-Fest, Seal Thrilling 6-Wicket Victory in Record Chase
SRH beat MI in a thrilling Wankhede clash, chasing 244 with 6 wickets in hand in a record-breaking high-scoring IPL encounter.
April 30, 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a commanding all-round batting display to defeat Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in a high-scoring IPL encounter. Chasing a daunting target of 244, SRH made light work of the total, finishing at 243/4 in just 18.3 overs with nine balls to spare. Despite Mumbai’s imposing first-innings score, the visitors maintained control throughout the chase with aggressive intent and clinical execution.
Mumbai Indians, batting first, posted a formidable 243/5 in their 20 overs, largely powered by a sensational unbeaten 123 off 55 balls from Ryan Rickelton. He anchored the innings superbly while Will Jacks contributed a quick 46 off 22 deliveries. Captain Hardik Pandya added late impetus with a brisk 31 off 15 balls, but Mumbai were unable to fully capitalise in the death overs.

SRH Batting Firepower Overwhelms MI Attack
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad adopted an ultra-aggressive approach from the outset. Abhishek Sharma set the tone with 45 runs, while Travis Head delivered a blistering 76 off just 30 balls, putting the Mumbai bowlers under immediate pressure. The duo forged a dominant 129-run opening partnership, equalling the record for the most century stands for the first wicket in IPL history.
Following the dismissal of the openers, Heinrich Klaasen ensured there was no turnaround in momentum. The South African wicketkeeper-batter played a composed yet destructive unbeaten knock of 65 off 30 balls, guiding SRH comfortably to victory and shutting out any hopes of a Mumbai comeback.
Mumbai’s bowling unit struggled to contain the flow of runs, with even experienced campaigners Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult proving expensive on a day dominated by the bat. Bumrah, in particular, conceded 54 runs in his four overs.
With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad not only secured crucial momentum in the tournament but also registered the highest successful run chase at the Wankhede Stadium, surpassing Mumbai Indians’ previous record chase of 221 earlier in the season.
