Sri Lankan Stars Including Matheesha Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga Await Fitness Clearance Ahead of IPL 2026
In a statement, SLC said that players requesting to play in IPL 2026 will receive NOCs only after passing the mandatory Physical Performance Test.
March 20, 2026: Franchises and Sri Lankan players are waiting for confirmation to join IPL 2026, which starts next weekend. Seven Sri Lankan players are part of the tournament but have not yet received No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to travel and join their teams. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board will conduct fitness tests next week before issuing confirmations.
In a statement, SLC said that players requesting to play in IPL 2026 will receive NOCs only after passing the mandatory Physical Performance Test.
Nuwan Thushara’s NOC will depend on the results of his test. Wanindu Hasaranga, Eshan Malinga, and Matheesha Pathirana are still recovering from injuries and will take the test after completing their rehabilitation programs.

Sri Lankan players in IPL 2026:
- KKR: Matheesha Pathirana
- SRH: Kamindu Mendis, Eshan Malinga
- LSG: Wanindu Hasaranga
- DC: Dushmantha Chameera, Pathum Nissanka
- RCB: Nuwan Thushara
Currently, SLC is running an eight-week physical training program for all nationally contracted players to improve fitness for international matches. Players must pass the mandatory Physical Performance Test to get clearance for domestic tournaments and IPL 2026.
Players who have successfully completed the tests—Dushmantha Chameera, Pathum Nissanka, and Kamindu Mendis—have been granted their NOCs and are eligible to play in IPL 2026.
