St. Anthony’s chess players achieve Biggest Achievement
The students of St. Anthony’s Sr. Sec. School have achieved one of the biggest achievements at the CBSE West Zone Chess Championship at SNBP International School, Pune. The school stood runner up in the championship with the players of all the categories making their way to the national competition.

Principal William D’Souza informed that under the prodigy of trainer Vikas Sahu, St. Anthony defeated school from Gwalior in the under-10 category gaining 8 game points and becoming the runner up in this competition with Captain Arun Kataria achieved the board prize.
Likewise, in the under-14 category, St. Anthony defeated other schools and gained 20 game points making its way to the second position. Dhruv Dak achieved the board prize in this competition. Also in under-19 category, the Udaipur school secured fourth position with Nikhil Yadav achieving the board prize.
It is to consider that it is for the first time in the history of CBSE where one school’s teams are participating in all the three categories of the national championship. All the students were welcomed whole-heartedly by their parents, well wishers, chess players and school officials at the railway station after winning in Pune.
The team members who will participate in the national championship to be held in Kolkata are: In Under-10: FIDE Rated player Arun Kataria (captain), Tanmay Nalwaya, Prakhar Chaplot, Hardik Dak, Yamish Jain. In under-14: FIDE Rated player Divyanshu Babel (captain), Dhruv Dak, Gautam Kataria, Devansh Chechani, Alpesh Patni. In Under-19: FIDE Rated player Nikhil Yadav (captain), Kunal Chabbra, Kushal Patel, Vandan Lodha and Vedant Sharma.
The winners of Under-10 and Under-14 competitions received merit certificates and silver medals while the winners of Under-19 competition received bronze medals with certificates.
