Suryakumar Yadav copied Usman Tariq’s bowling action in practice to help India prepare for the Pakistan match. He said the team will not surrender and is ready to face the spinner’s unique challenge in the T20 World Cup clash.
February 15, 2026: India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is leading from the front before the big match against Pakistan in Colombo. The team is preparing to face Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq in the T20 World Cup clash.
Usman is known for his different bowling style. Many people have spoken about his action. Some have questioned it, while others have supported him.
During practice, Suryakumar copied Usman’s bowling action. He delayed his arm movement while in the delivery position. This helped Indian batters understand what to expect. It will also help them build muscle memory to handle the delay in his delivery.
Suryakumar said the team will not give up against any bowler. He said sometimes a tough question comes in an exam, but you still have to answer it. He added that the team is practising against bowlers with similar actions. The players will try to follow their plans in the match.

Mixed Views on Usman Tariq’s Bowling Action
There are different opinions about Usman’s bowling action. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has raised questions about it.
Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has supported Usman. Ashwin said that only an ICC testing centre can decide if a bowling action is legal. He also said there is a 15-degree rule for elbow movement, and it is hard for umpires to judge it during a live match.
Ashwin added that using a grey area in the rules is not wrong. He believes Usman’s pause at the crease is part of his normal action and is legal.
