March 2, 2026: Sanju Samson played a match-winning role as India defeated West Indies to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026. With this victory, India qualified for the knockout stage of the shortest format World Cup for the sixth time in 10 editions, matching the record of England and Pakistan.

The tournament schedule has also been confirmed after this result. Since Pakistan were knocked out, the semi-finals and final will now be played in India. The T20 World Cup 2026 campaign in Sri Lanka has ended.

India to Face England in High-Pressure Semi-Final

India finished second in their Super 8 group and will face the group toppers, the England national cricket team, in the second semi-final. The match will be played on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium. This will be the third consecutive T20 World Cup semi-final meeting between India and England.

England won the 2022 semi-final by 10 wickets. India won the previous edition by 68 runs. Both teams will aim for victory in this important match. England are coming into the semi-final after winning five straight matches in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the first semi-final will be played between the South Africa national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team on March 4 at Eden Gardens. South Africa topped the Super 8 group with a seven-match winning streak, while New Zealand finished second in their group despite losing their previous game to England.
