March 27, 2025: The news initially came as a shock to Akram Khan, who was initially told that Tamim Iqbal was "no more". Tamim, who suffered a heart attack while playing for BKSP, is very much alive and now recovering well. Yesterday, he was transferred from KPJ Hospital in Kashimpur, Gazipur, to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. Tamim is currently under observation and responding well to treatment, as per Akram Khan, former Bangladesh Cricket team captain and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director, who is also Tamim Iqbal’s uncle.
"He is under observation at Evercare. We have also spoken to the doctor. If he remains in this condition for two to three more days, we will be able to bring him home" - Akram Khan told reporters after the Independence Day exhibition match at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.

Heart Attack During the Match
Tamim felt some discomfort during the warm-up before the Mohammedan-Shinepukur match in the Premier League last Monday. His condition worsened after he returned to the dressing room following the toss. At that point, it wasn’t clear that he had suffered a heart attack.
Immediate Medical Attention
Tamim was rushed to KPJ Specialized Hospital near BKSP. After receiving initial treatment, he was preparing to return to the field. However, the Mohammedan Sporting Club captain lost consciousness again on the field due to a heart attack.
Critical Care and Transfer to Dhaka
Due to his condition, Tamim was not in a state to be taken by air ambulance. On reaching hospital by road, he underwent Angiography and a stent was inserted into his heart at KPJ Hospital. He was kept there for observation for a day and was brought back to Dhaka on Wednesday, 26 March.
Plans for Further Treatment Abroad
When asked whether Tamim would be taken abroad for further treatment, Akram said, "The necessary procedure has been done — a stent has been fitted. After discussing this with the family, we will take him abroad as soon as possible for a thorough examination to ensure he is free of worries. I don’t want the tension to continue."
