The Senior Women's Dragon Boat World Cup competition was held in China
Udaipur, November 5, 2024 - Tanishq Patwa of Udaipur has brought more laurels to India and the city by winning a bronze medal in kayaking dragon boat event at the renowned World Cup competition held in China.
Dilip Singh Chauhan, chairperson of the Indian Dragon Boat Federation and pioneer of water sports in Udaipur, said the Indian women's team put up a commendable performance at the International Canoe Federation's Senior Women's Dragon Boat World Cup, held from October 23 to 28. The team won a bronze medal for India.
Prashant Kushwaha, president of the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association, mentioned that under the leadership of chief coach Chauhan, a strong team was selected from top athletes across the country for this international competition.
This achievement is a matter of pride for Rajasthan as well as Udaipur. It is the first medal for the city in an international World Cup competition in this sport. Competing in the 2-kilometer event, Tanishq finished in third place and secured the medal.
After winning the medal, Patwa expressed that the competition was intense, but it was the teamwork and hard work of all the players that led to the victory. She also mentioned that she wanted to dedicate her win to coach Dilip Singh Chauhan, Nischay Singh Chauhan, and her teammates.
