Assistant Coach Coach Shares Fitness Updates on Jasprit Bumrah and Abhishek Sharma
Team India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate gave updates on Jasprit Bumrah and Abhishek Sharma ahead of the IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026 match. Read the complete news to know the updates.
Abhishek came out to bat in the first innings but got out on the first ball for a golden duck. He also did not take the field for much of the second innings in India’s 29-run win.
When asked about their fitness, Ten Doeschate said (via @Sahil_Malhotra1 on X): “Bumrah hasn’t bowled for 10 days, will bowl today. Abhishek still has an upset stomach.” He also confirmed that all-rounder Washington Sundar has joined the team and will bowl in the nets.
Washington Sundar Back in Action
All-rounder Washington Sundar has joined Team India and will bowl today, said assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. Sundar missed the T20 World Cup opener after getting injured during the ODI series against New Zealand last month.
Washington Sundar has his first training session with the Indian team at this World Cup.

Pakistan Reverses Boycott
Ryan ten Doeschate also spoke about Pakistan’s change of plan for their India clash in Colombo on February 15. Pakistan had threatened to boycott the match following orders from their government before the start of the T20 World Cup. Ten Doeschate said, “It’s great the game is back on, no big change for us. We got to know late yesterday.”
After ten days of uncertainty, the match will happen as planned, following a meeting between ICC, BCB, and PCB. Like India, Pakistan also started their campaign with a close last-over win over the Netherlands. India will face Namibia in their second match tomorrow, while Pakistan will play the USA in their second Group A game tonight in Colombo.
The highly-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will be their third match in the T20 World Cup 2026.
