Tim David Fined and Suspended After IPL 2026 Final as Viral Andy Flower Celebration Sparks Buzz
Tim David's IPL 2026 Final ended on a mixed note as the RCB batter received a fine and suspension for a Code of Conduct breach, while a viral celebration with Andy Flower became a social media talking point.
June 02, 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee and handed two Demerit Points for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The incident occurred during the 10th over of the first innings when David was found guilty of violating Article 2.9 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to throwing a ball or other cricket equipment in an inappropriate or dangerous manner.
According to the IPL, David threw an ice bag aggressively in the direction of umpire Nitin Menon following the fall of a wicket. The Australian batter admitted the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Javagal Srinath. With this being his third Level 1 offence of the season, David's tally has now reached five Demerit Points, resulting in a one-match suspension. He will therefore miss the opening match of IPL 2027 for whichever franchise he represents.
Tim David's Demerit Points Reach Five
David had previously received one Demerit Point in Match 20 and two more in Match 54. The additional two points from the final took his season total to five, triggering an automatic one-match ban under the IPL's disciplinary regulations. The punishment comes despite RCB successfully defending their title and securing a second consecutive IPL championship.
