Cricket Stadium at Khelgaon in Udaipur to be Completed by January 2026

Udaipur, Aug 22, 2025: Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta visited Maharana Pratap Khelgaon in Chitrakoot Nagar on Friday Aug 22. During the visit, he provided essential guidance after thoroughly reviewing various development projects being executed by UDA, including the complexes being built as part of the Chief Minister's financial allocation. During his visit and inspection, he was apprised that the construction of the cricket stadium and pavilion is expected to be completed by January 2026.

On inspecting the newly opened indoor gym he praised the modern equipment available in the gym and recommended efforts to promote it more broadly. Following that, he inspected the cricket stadium and also evaluated the pavilion being constructed by UDA.

The collector advised the officials to regularly organize competitions for various sports to enhance the facilities in Khelgaon. Mehta reviewed the 10-meter shooting range and instructed improvements where necessary. He also looked at images of national and international shooters and sought information about them, while also directing the construction of the proposed 25-meter and 50-meter shooting ranges separately.

While observing the athletic stadium, the collector emphasized the need for constructing changing rooms, convenience facilities, and other essentials for players, particularly female athletes. Instructions were given to create changing rooms in the athletic stadium. He also assessed the hockey stadium. Inspection of the lacrosse field that is under construction was also conducted by the Collector. He reviewed the ongoing construction of the lacrosse ground as part of the Chief Minister's budgetary provisions and urged for a boost in the pace of work, ensuring that quality and standards are maintained.

He also recommended building the proposed skating track around the lacrosse field. The collector instructed that the unfinished tasks of the indoor stadium be completed promptly. As part of his inspection, he examined the multipurpose indoor stadium being constructed at the Khelgaon site. He noted that such a large venue primarily for sports activities might only exist in Udaipur besides Jaipur. He asked the project director of RSRDC, Lalchand Verma, to expedite the hall's completion.

Mehta requested detailed accounts of income and expenses for each sport at the stadiums located in Khelgaon. He sought information regarding the revenues generated by various sports venues in Khelgaon and the costs associated with their upkeep. He directed the District Sports Officer to compile separate records for each sports facility. Instructions were issued to establish a water conservation structure. The Collector inquired about the water harvesting initiatives in the Khelgaon area. He learned that an old anicut already exists on the site and that systems for harvesting water are planned at three locations. The District Collector emphasized the importance of having natural water bodies in such large camps, directing UDA officials to find a suitable location for constructing a pond-like water structure.
