Udaipur, January 1, 2025 – This new year is set to bring much cheer to the sporting fraternity of Udaipur as the 400-meter synthetic athletics track at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon is nearing completion and expected to be ready by March 2025, according to District Sports Officer Mahesh Paliwal.

A budget of Rs 7.5 crore had been allocated for this project by the previous State Government. The road surfacing work is now complete and synthetic layer will be laid on it. After that, the finishing work on the track will be completed, and it will be handed over to the Sports Department.

A separate arena is also being prepared for athletes to train on.

The athletics track being prepared at Khel Gaon is an eight-lane international standard track. This will enable national-level competitions to be held here.

Until now, athletes from Udaipur district have had to train by running on dirt tracks, which posed a risk of injury. This new synthetic track will provide a big boost to sports in Udaipur district.
