Udaipur Kid Selected for National Chess Championship

Rahul Sharma of The Study, a rising chess player of the city, has been selected for the team representing Rajasthan at the 26th National Under-7 Chess Competition taking place at Pondicherry from 15th to 24th July.

“Two players of Jaipur Rishabh Dutta and Yashika Singh will also be a part of the team representing Rajasthan,” Vikas Sahu, Chess Coach, stated.

The players have been selected on the basis of their performance at State Level Under-7 Open Chess Tournament, which was completed in Udaipur recently.

The competition taking place in 11 cycles will be played by the Swiss System. On this occasion, P.K. Gupta the Secretary of All Rajputana Chess Association and General Secretary of the All India Chess Association gave their best wishes to players.

In the Swiss-system tournament, players or teams are paired to face each other in several rounds of competition. It is used in case when there are too many players for round-robin tournament, where all contestants meet all other contestants in turn.
