8 members of Udaipur Strength Lifting Team have been selected for National level tournament at Chattisgarh. The team will represent Rajasthan with other athletes coming from the state.

A team of 24 athletes from Rajasthan is going to take part in National Junior and Federation Cup Competition of Strength Lifting which is will be held from September 21 to 26 at Durg in Chattisgarh.

Chandresh Soni, General Secretary of Rajasthan Strength Lifting Association, Udaipur has told that 8 athletes from Udaipur are Govind Prajapat (Captain), Divyansh Soni, Kishan Prajapat, Chen Singh, Sayyed Irfan Ali, Dhan Singh, Nimit Audichya and Sahil Ali. They are going to Jaipur tomorrow morning to join the state team to head Durg on the same day.

Chandresh Soni of Udaipur has been specially invited to be the chief referee of the event. Soni is one of the senior most athletes of Udaipur and has won Gold Medal constantly for 18 years. Udaipur team has been extensively trained under the guidance of Soni who voluntarily give training to sportsmen in a self possessed Gym at Jagdish Chowk.

While talking to UdaipurTimes.com Soni said, “Last year we were the 1^st runner-up, this time I am confident that our boys will come back as Champions.”

Udaipur is considered to have produced many good athletes in Strength Lifting; Deepak Gaud and Dr. Deepak Choudhary are a few to name who played at the International and the Master’s level.
