Udaipur to Host First-Ever Beach Volleyball Tournament
Two sand courts are being set up behind Mahakaleshwar Temple for beach volleyball under Khelo India University Games
Udaipur, Nov 8, 2025 – For the first time ever, Udaipur will be hosting beach volleyball matches in the city as part of the Khelo India University Games. Two specially prepared sand courts are being set up for the event behind Mahakaleshwar Temple near Fateh Sagar. During the matches, the lakeside venue is expected to resemble a sea beach tournament.
Preparations for the tournament have already begun. Two courts, each measuring 26 metres in length and 18 metres in width, are being set up, with sand filled to a depth of 1.5 feet. Former District Sports Officer Ajit Jain informed that 600 tonnes of sand have been brought in for the beach volleyball event.
A total of 16 teams, including eight Boys and eight Girls teams, will participate. Special arrangements have been made for spectators and changing zones will be provided for athletes around the courts.
Under the Khelo India University Games, Udaipur has been selected to host three sports – beach volleyball, kayaking-canoeing and judo. The events will be held from November 28 to December 1, 2025, with more than 350 athletes expected to participate.
The kayaking-canoeing competitions will be held on Fateh Sagar while judo events will be conducted at the Atal Bihari Indoor Stadium in MB College.
