June 25, 2026: Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to receive special arrangements during India’s upcoming T20 tour of England, in line with international safeguarding rules for under-16 players.

The 15-year-old is expected to use a separate changing facility and will not share the dressing room with senior India players. AauBhed, this arrangement follows strict ICC and ECB safeguarding policies that focus on protecting the welfare of minor cricketers during international tours. As per these rules, players under the age of 16 are not allowed to use adult dressing rooms in ICC-regulated matches.

ECB and ICC Safeguarding Protocols in Place

Vaibhav has been included in India’s squad for the Ireland and England T20I series and is already making headlines. If he features in the playing XI, he could become India’s youngest international cricketer, surpassing long-standing records, including that of Sachin Tendulkar.

The England series will be conducted under ICC safeguarding standards along with the ECB’s “Safe Hands” policy, both designed to ensure strict welfare protection for young players. While Vaibhav will have a separate changing room at all venues, he will still be allowed inside the main dressing room during team meetings and tactical discussions.

For added support, his parents will accompany him on the UK tour. The ECB has also approved a special exemption allowing them to stay at the same hotel as the Indian team, a rare relaxation of standard touring rules. Officials believe this will help the teenager stay comfortable and focused during a crucial stage of his early career.

The ECB has confirmed that safeguarding officers and Team Liaison Officers are working closely with the Indian team management. They are conducting detailed venue-wise risk assessments to ensure all protocols are properly followed across the tour.

Similar arrangements have been seen in world sport before, including cases like footballer Max Dowman, who also used separate facilities while under 16, reflecting established safeguarding standards in elite sport.
