The final match of MPL-2011 Cricket League between Vardhman Vinay Club and Decent Club was played today at the Field Club ground. Vardhman Vinay Club won the match defeating the stronger looking Decent Club.

Contrary to expectations, the match was not cut-throat and Vardhman Vinay easily grabbed the Championship after destroying the bowling of the opponent team to reach the given target of 66 runs.

In the first inning, the winning team showed the great team spirit and wiped out Decent Club for 65 runs in 17.4 overs. Vardhman’s Rakesh Jain took 4 wickets and was given the Man of the Match award.

In second innings, Vardhman Vinay’s batsmen proved their sustainability by reaching the target of 66 runs in 7.2 overs while losing only 2 wickets.

All over, it was an entertaining match with loads of excitement and expectations from all players.

After the match, a prize distribution ceremony was conducted and prizes were given to players by invited special guests, which included Lalit Dak, former Ranji Player; R.K Jain, Forest Conservator; Nirmal Mathha and Rakesh Porwal, Social workers; Pramod Samar, Chief of Mahaveer Yuva Manch; Rajesh Chittora, President of Mahaveer Yuva Manch and Neeraj Singhvi, Maha Mantri of Mahaveer Yuva Manch.

Of the various awards and recognitions given to players who performed well through out the tournament, international player Nikhil Doru(86 runs) of Vardhman Vinay received Star Player of the Tournament Award; Vaibhav Jain (9 wickets) of Decent Club got Best Bowler Award while Anshul Babel (114 runs) of Premier Eleven was given the Best Batsman Award.

12 Matches were played in the tournament, which saw participation by 14 teams. The Tournament started on 14 Nov, 2011.
