The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan Sports University, Jhunjhunu – Laxman Singh Ranawat was welcomed and honored at BN College, Udaipur today.

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan Sports University, Jhunjhunu – Laxman Singh Ranawat was welcomed and honored at BN College, Udaipur today.

Laxman Singh who was former Director of National Institute of Sports (NIS) hails from Bhilwara and was appointed as Vice Chancellor for First Sports University of Rajasthan, which was founded on 10th June under the orders by Governor.

Ranawat while addressing the event said, “Rajasthan grabbed only 4 medals out of 440 in State Level Sports conducted in Ranchi recently and stood on 20th position. As the Rajasthan Sports University starts functioning, we target to achieve place in at least first five positions”.

“One of our main focus would also be on including students from Tribal and Rural areas to promote and strengthen their talent and bring out the best in them”, he added.

The Rajasthan Sports University, which is in its development phase has the budget of nearly 400 crores and the course structure will include theory plus training of games including Basketball, Kabbadi, Shooting and Volleyball as the starting modules.

National and State players will be given different set of training as per their previous exposure in the respective sports.

He also informed that, “Any player qualifying for Olympics, will get direct admission in National Institute of Sports”.

“We will also ask to be provided with a temporary setup from the government, to start out initial routines”, he added. Along with Laxman Singh and one RAS officer, six others have been appointed in the Rajasthan Sports University.

Niranjan Narayan, MD, BN College; Dhabe Singh, Coach & President, Wrestling; Onkar Singh Kelwa, Professor, BN College and others were present in the event.
